The Legalist School has been mostly interpreted with the thought of "Hegemony" through generations. However, such interpretation fails to grasp the significance of "Mingzhu". On the basis of "Dao of Mingzhu" and with another line of thinking different from the old ones, this paper aims to demonstrate the four elements that have helped the Legalist School win its core status associated with sage kings and ministers in Chinese culture: "People as the Foundation", "Dao of Heaven as Laws of Nature", "Dao of Moderation" and "Reducing selfishness, holding few desires".
