Abstract |
The expansion of neo-liberalism has deepened the gap between wealth and poverty and brought poverty issues among developing countries during the Post-Cold War Era. Two distinct ideological narratives have evolved--the religious narrative of "anti-terrorism" and the LGBT-human-rights narrative of "antihomophobia"— to politically and economically strengthen the dominant position of the West over Third World countries. This article attempts to analyze two sets of contradictions, namely, the contradiction within "civilization"and the contradiction within "aid", to demonstrate how the discourse of "western LGBT
human rights", or "anti-homophobia," can bring forth political effects on the project of "anti-terrorism". |
